Resumen de Hacia una contextualización del mito griego en los vasos funerarios de la antigua Apulia

Este ensayo estudia los usos del mito griego en el remanente arte funerario del sur de Italia, particularmente en las regiones de Magna Graccia y Apulia durante el siglo IV a.C. Dado que la gran mayoría de estas representaciones provienen de vasos en el estilo de figuras rojas depositados en tumbas, se enfatizará la importancia del contexto arqueológico al momento de interpretar las imágenes mitológicas representadas en ellos. Como ejemplo, se analizará un grupo de vasos funerarios proveniente de Ruvo (Tumba 55), y se intentará proponer una explicación alternativa al uso de los vasos y su recepción cultural.

This paper studies the uses of Greek myths as seen on the remaimng funerary art of South Italy, particularly in the regions of Magna Graccia and Apulia during the fourth-century BC. Given that the great majority of myths come ffom depictions of them on red-figure vases that ended up in tombs, this study will highlight the importance of the archacological context in the interpretation of these kinds of images. A tomb-group from Ruvo (Tomb 55) will lead us to propose an alternativo explanation for the use of the vases and their cultural reception.
