  El objetivo de este artículo es realizar un análisis de las relaciones existentes entre la legislación electoral y las guerras civiles en los inicios de la vida política Estatal en Santander. Se describen los inicios del experimento Radical llevado a cabo por los más importantes ideólogos liberales del siglo XIX en este Estado, haciendo especial énfasis en la dinámica política y militar que trajo consigo la ley Estatal electoral del 30 de diciembre de 1857 y la ley nacional del 8 de Abril de 1859.

  The objective of this article is to carry out an analysis of the existent relationships between the electoral legislation and the civil wars in the beginnings of the State political life in Santander. The beginnings of the Radical experiment are described carried out by the most important liberal ideologists in the XIX century in this State, making special emphasis in the political and military dynamics that it brought gets the electoral State law of December 30 on 1857 and the national law of April 8 on 1859.
