The following article describes us a manuscript (ms. 37 in the library of Marcelino Menéndez Pelayo at Santander), the Treatises of Seneca traduced by Don Alonso de Cartagena, whose cultural, codicologic and paleographic characterization shows the panorama of the early fruition of Seneca's works, accomplished in the Literary Court of Juan II Trastamara during the first Castilian Renaissance. After a detailed exam, we refer tipologically our manuscript to the category of "vernacular luxurius codex".
