As diferentes noções de código narrativo na obra de Roland Barthes: as translações de sentido em um conceito

    Embora o conceito de código narrativo seja central na obra de Roland Barthes, podemos notar que o autor o utiliza a partir de acepções diversas. O objetivo do presente artigo é, justamente, analisar essas rearticulações em torno deste conceito em seus principais textos e relacioná-las com os diferentes modelos a partir dos quais Barthes entendeu a estruturação narrativa. Em um primeiro momento, o código é utilizado como modo de articulação da política na forma da narrativa, relacionando-o com a noção de escritura. Já em uma segunda fase, ele é utilizado como forma de estabelecimento de uma homologia entre a língua e a narrativa, em um momento em que o autor se filia abertamente ao modelo da análise estrutural. A partir de S/Z, contudo, o código é comparado a vozes que se organizam na tessitura do texto, levando ao estabelecimento de estruturas diversas que se interpõem para a formação da narrativa. Essas modificações na concepção do código narrativo implicam uma mudança de perspectiva na maneira como são entendidas as repetições e as translações de sentido na composição narrativa ao longo da obra barthesiana.

    Although the concept of narrative code is central to Roland Barthes, we note that the author gives it several meanings. The aim of this paper is to analyze the rearticulations of this concept in the author’s main texts and relate them to the different models Barthes referred to in order to understand narrative structuring. At first, the code is used as an articulation of politics in the form of a narrative, relating it to the notion of writing. Later, in the structural framework, it is used as a way of establishing a homology between language and narrative. As from S/Z onwards, however, the code is compared to voices organized in the text, leading to the establishment of various structures that intervene in the formation of the narrative. These changes in the conception of the narrative code imply a change of perspective in the way Barthes understood repetitions and translations of meaning in the narrative composition throughout his work.
