La conservación de las superficies es el lugar arquitectónico donde los horizontes crítico y técnico entran en contacto. Las herramientas de proyecto (tales como las intervenciones de limpieza, las reintegraciones) no responden exclusivamente a las leyes de la química aplicada al patrimonio porque abrazan el horizonte de la interpretación y de la evaluación histórico-crítica de los signos del tiempo. A través de una lectura estética y técnica de casos conocidos elegidos de manera trans-cronológica, la superficie resulta el lugar donde la relación con el tiempo y con la historia adquiere la consistencia de la materia convirtiéndose en el lugar del proyecto.

The surface conservation is the architectural place where the technical horizon and the critical horizon come together. In the case of cultural heritage, the instruments of the project (such as the cleaning and the reintegration procedures) not only follow the laws of applied chemistry but also embrace the horizon of the interpretation and the historical and critical evaluation of the signs of time. Through an aesthetic and technical reading of known cases, chosen trans-chronologically, the surface acts as the place where the relationship with time and history takes on the consistency of matter becoming the place of the project.
