La posición de inmovilización articular y su repercusión en el cartilago articular: estudio experimental

    Se estudian en el conejo los cambios degenerativos en el cartílago articular de la rodilla tras inmovilizaciones rígidas de 1 a 14 semanas, en posición funcional y en extensión forzada, lo que pone de manifiesto graves lesiones del cartílago, iniciándose con una hiperemia subcondral, sigue el patrón histológico de la artrosis hasta su total destrucción.

    Se demuestra una mayor intensidad y precocidad de las lesiones cuando la inmovilización se hace en posición no funcional.

    An experimental study in the knee of the rabbit is planned in order analize the results afther fixed immovilisation for a period of 1 to 14 weeks in a functional position ( flexion in the rabbit) and the maximum extension. The changes of the articular cartilague begins with a subchondral hyperemiae followed by histological changes in the own cartilague until its whole destruction.

    The comparative histological findings show that the lessions appear earlier and are more severe if the immovilisation was in a non-functional position in the rabbit (foil extension).
