    Este artículo presenta una descripción de la ocupación francesa de San Sebastián de 1808 basada, fundamentalmente, en documentos inéditos de los archivos franceses. En vista de los contenidos de dichos documentos, el artículo propone una revisión de diversos aspectos de la entrada francesa a la ciudad, al considerar que la mera fecha de la ocupación de Donostia, las formas y procedimientos utilizados por el ejército francés o la actitud mostrada por las autoridades civiles guipuzcoanas o militares españolas no han sido bien reflejadas por la historiografía liberal y sus trasmisores, los cuales, tanto en lo relativo al tema puntual de este artículo, como sobre todo en lo referente a lo ocurrido en Gipuzkoa entre 1808 y 1813, han tendido a generalizar todas las conductas y respuestas, encajándolas, fueran cuales fueran, en un mismo esquema, que no era otro que el de la mítica respuesta unitaria de una única "nación" en armas contra el invasor.

    This article presents an overview of the French occupation of San Sebastián in 1808, based largely on unpublished documents from the French archives. Taking into account the contents of these documents, the article proposes a review of various aspects of the French entry into the town, considering that the mere date of the occupation of Donostia, the manners used by the French army or the attitude shown by Guipuzcoan civilian and Spanish military authorities had not been well reflected in the liberal historiography and its transmitters, which, in regard to the specific topic of this article, and mainly in relation to what happened in Gipuzkoa between 1808 and 1813, have tended to generalize all behaviors and responses, fitting them, whatever they were, in the same scheme, which was none other than the mithycal unified response of an unique "nation" in arms against the invader.

    Artikulu honek 1808an Donostia hiriak jaso zuen frantses okupazioa deskribitzen du, batez ere Frantziako artxibategien dokumentu argitaragabetan oinarrituta. Dokumentu horiek kontutan hartuta, frantsesen sarrerarekin batera gertatukoaren alderdi batzuk errebisatzea proposatzen du artikuluak, horien artean, hiriaren okupazioaren onartutako data bera, frantses armadaren prozedurak edo Gipuzkoako autoritate zibil eta Espainako armadaren jarrerak; izan ere, alderdi horiek ez dituzte ondo islatu historiografia liberalak eta bere trasmititzaileek, zeinek jarrera guztiak, zirenak zirela, eskema berean egokitzera jo dute, alegia, inbaditzailearen aurkako "nazio" armatu batuaren erantzun bakarraren eskeman.
