Desde mi posición como documentalista de María Zambrano en sus últimos años de vida en Madrid, aporto a la investigación sobre su pensamiento no solo el conocimiento de sus escritos, sino también su palabra viva surgida en nuestras conversaciones durante años día tras día en su biblioteca. María Zambrano (1904-1991) encuentra en el arte en general y en la poesía en particular («Todo arte es poesía o... no es»), la medida de una filosofía que, como toda creación artística, empieza por exigir un implacable ejercicio. La propuesta filosófica de Zambrano surge del pensamiento clásico europeo incluyendo también las tradiciones orientales que trajeron árabes y judíos a la Península ibérica. Este legado, junto a las culturas con las que tuvo oportunidad de entrar en contacto en América, forman un pensamiento integrador y original que todavía puede dar respuesta a la crisis que arrastramos.

From my position as Maria Zambrano’s documentalist in her last years of life in Madrid, I offer to the research on her thought, not only the knowledge of her writings, but also her alive words that arose in our conversations for years being employed day after day at her library. María Zambrano (1904- 1991) finds in art in general and in poetry especially («Any art is poetry or... it is not») the measure of a philosophy that, as any artistic creation, begins by demanding an implacable exercise. Zambrano’s philosophical offer arises from the classic European thought including also the oriental traditions that the Arabs and the Judes brought to the Iberian Peninsula. This legacy plus the cultures with which she had opportunity to enter contact with in America, form an original and integrative thought that still can give response to the crisis that we drag today.
