  • Resumen
    • The maintenance strategy of a repairable system calls for preventative repair actions at regularly scheduled times and minimal repair actions whenever failure occurs. When failures do occur, they are modeled on a nonhomogeneous Poisson process called the power law process. The expected cost per unit of time for each preventative maintenance policy can thus be determined, and then the optimal strategy as a function of the intensity function of the process is obtained. Large sample procedures to estimate the optimal maintenance check points are also discussed. Results are tested on data from failure histories of power transformers.
