  • Resumen
    • Product design and development process is an iterative process and heavily determines the quality of product, the time to market of product, and the cost of product. The required time of this process can be reduced by using several relevant tools without degrading the quality of product or increasing the cost of product. This paper presents an effort to predict possible failures caused by stress of a material handling mechanism by analysing its digital prototype in early stage of the design and development process. Because the iteration is done mostly before the construction of physical prototype, the iteration cycle can be shortened and the cost of the design process can be reduced. Moreover, unnecessary expenditure, when physical prototype must be produced many times, can be avoided. After being analysed, the mechanism can be optimised based on the analysis results to reduce material cost and increase performance of the mechanism.
