  • Resumen
    • One method for increasing company’s performance excellence is by optimizing the utilization of company’s human resources through applying a good scheduling system. A company with a very long service hours usually use multiple shifts. To maintain the customer’s service within rest time, the employees should not rest simultaneously in a time interval called break window. .Integer Linear Programming model for optimal shift scheduling with multiple shifts and break windows is used to determine the optimal number of employees needed in every shift and break assignment. These optimal numbers are used to schedule the company’s employees through 6 working days with wellplanned break assignments. Compared with the traditional system, the proposed system and model shows several advantages, such as scheduling process required by the new model is faster and easier, employee’s deficit and surplus are well distributed, the break assignments are arranged while maintaining the customer’s services. Knowing the optimal number of employees will help the manager in developing recruitment plan.
