Resumen de ASP Model for ERP Implementation

N.P. Singh

  • Structure of Application Service Provider (ASP) model consists of deploying, hosting and managing access to application(s) to multiple parties from centrally managed facilities. The applications are delivered over networks on a subscription basis. This delivery model speeds up implementation, minimizes the expenses and risks incurred across the application life cycle, and overcomes the chronic shortage of qualified technical personnel available in-house with user companies. The ASP model has become increasingly popular with companies working to increase Return in Investment (ROI) on Information Technology (IT) expenses while improving operational efficiency, time-to-market and customer service. With the help of an ASP, small and mid-sized and large-sized organizations can deploy enterprise applications with less investment in software, deployment time and IT personnel. In this article author reviewed ERP implementations based ASP model during 2000-05. In addition, analyzed the issue such as (i) ASP implementation are specific to industry, or specific to region, specific to features of the ERP product, specific to the needs of the organization, or specific to an ERP, specific to culture in the organization, etc. Author will test these hypothesis based on case analysis. Further paper includes testing of hypothesis with respect to ROI, and cost of implementation in long run and how it is affected by various ASP strategies of implementation. Finally a framework for ASP model is presented.
