The article presents the theoretical basis and methods of construction of a new approach to program environment engineering that utilizes an inter-active user-friendly interface for semantic visualization and and metacontrol to allow programmers to gain a stronger and more intuitive grasp of the semantics and syntax of the language they are working within.
The system runs in a translation mode in which an abstract meta-machine (AMM) analyzes entered program text and translates it into performed code and in an execution mode, in which an abstract language-machine (ALM), interprets the program code. These subsystems allow correctly parsed codes to be developed and debugged in a very efficient manner. Although the system is currently implemented for versions of Pascal within MS-DOS and UNIX environments, it is expected that the approach will be adopted to training in a wide variety of high-level programming languages
