  • Resumen
    • Why do managers often use small groups when planning and decision making? What are the advantages and limitations of making decisions using small groups? This problem has been researched and reported in psychology forecasting and management literature. A review of this research leaves most readers feeling that the practitioners have got it right. However, the group has to have just the right amount of cohesion (compatibility). This paper supports the use of small compatible management groups in decision making and considers the constitution of such groups. It considers such things as the optimum size of a group, when a group is to be preferred to an individual, group compatibility, motivation strategies and group planning methods.
