Lynas holds back rare earths production at Malaysian facility

  • "The current rare earths market remains subdued," [Lynas] said in a statement. "Prices this calendar year have continued to fall, although there are now emerging signs of stabilisation in some categories," it added.

    "At the price level we see today, can we make money? Yes, we can still have a positive margin," Lynas' chairman, Eric Noyrez, said in during the company's last quarterly earnings call.

    Neither Malaysian nor Australian media sources reported any formal response to the announcement from the Stop Lynas! group, but the organisation's Twitter page had posted links to stories covering the company's decision to drop its action, and quoted Noyrez's comments regarding community cohesion.
