Resumen de El desempeño de la rama siderúrgica argentina en un contexto de crisis (1960-1980): Una comparación con la economía argentina y la siderurgia mundial

El objetivo de este trabajo es ubicar el lugar que ocupó la siderurgia nacional en el conjunto de la economía y su relación con la siderurgia mundial concentrándonos en el período 1960-1980. Para eso, analizaremos cuál fue su posición de manera relativa en materia de producción, exportaciones, escala y productividad del trabajo. El trabajo sostiene que la siderurgia ocupó un rol marginal a nivel mundial, que su peso fue de manera relativa menor que el de la economía nacional y por eso necesitó transferencias de riqueza para existir. Este elemento contribuye a pensar en los límites que tenía la rama para impulsar el desarrollo industrial en un momento de quiebre en la historia económica.

The objetive of this work is to situate the place occupied of national steel industry in the overall economy and its relationship to the world steel industry focusing on the period 1960-1980. For that we analyze the relative position in production, exports, scale and productivity. The contribution of this paper is to discuss the place of the steel industry worldwide, and determinate what was the weight it had in relation to the international insertion of Argentina's economy. This work argues that the steel occupied a marginal role globally, its relative weight was way lower than that of the national economy and therefore transfers of wealth needed to exist. This element helps to think of the limits that had the branch contribute to industrial development in a breaking point in economic history.
