Resumen de Mensiocronologia dei laterizi nel centro storico di Rimini: prime analisi

  This article illustrates the methods and the results of the first mensiochronologic analysis of the bricks used in the medieval and modern buildings of Rimini (13th-19th centuries). The investigation, which was aimed at the creation of a local chronological key, was preceded by a careful examination of the data acquired from archaeological excavations and archival documents. The field surveys focused on thirty-eight samples from thirty-five different buildings in the historic town centre: the sixteen samples considered most reliable were used for subsequent statistical studies. The mensiochronologic curves of length and width show the presence of a high metric discontinuity dating from the middle of the sixteenth century, when the values of these parameters showed a marked increase, which stabilized only in the eighteenth century. The thicknesses, on the other hand, seem to decrease gradually over time. Given the preliminary nature of the data presented, it would be opportune to proceed with further research, both in the field of archaeology and in the historic archives, in order to refine the dating of samples and eventually to extend the area of investigation.

  Il contributo illustra le metodologie e i risultati della prima analisi mensiocronologica dei mattoni impiegati nell’edilizia riminese di età medievale e moderna (secoli XIII-XIX). L’indagine, che ha consentito l’elaborazione di una chiave cronologica locale, è stata preceduta da un accurato esame dei dati provenienti dai contesti di scavo archeologico e dalla documentazione d’archivio. I rilievi sul campo hanno riguardato trentotto campioni relativi a trentacinque edifici del centro storico: i sedici campioni ritenuti maggiormente affidabili sono stati utilizzati per i successivi studi statistici. Le curve mensiocronologiche di lunghezza e larghezza evidenziano la presenza di una forte discontinuità metrica a partire dalla metà del XVI secolo, quando le dimensioni di questi parametri segnano una forte ascesa, destinata a stabilizzarsi soltanto nel XVIII secolo. Gli spessori invece sembrano decrescere progressivamente nel corso del tempo. Visto il carattere preliminare dei dati presentati, è auspicabile una prosecuzione della ricerca sia in campo archeologico che in campo archivistico, per meglio precisare le datazioni di alcuni campioni ed eventualmente estendere l’area d’indagine.
