Resumen de IM Global Health Check Q2: Volatile is the new normal

Wayne Yamada

  • "The information coming from commodity markets remained cautious on global growth and raises questions about the continued efficacy of monetary and fiscal policies across the world's main economies," said Michael Haigh, head of commodities research at French bank Societe General.

"While our China economics team expects growth to pick up sequentially later this year with quarterly GDP growth accelerating to 8.2% in Q4 and 8.7% in Q1 2014, the recent squeeze in the interbank market and a lower equity market in China suggest that uncertainty and volatility could remain a theme for the coming months," Xiao Fu, a strategist at Germany's Deutsche Bank, said.

"You know, it's possible that Japan's stagnation is essentially men's fault. The period in which men with uniform ways of thinking dominated Japan's business community was too long. In contrast, women have been engaged in corporate management for much too short a time," [Shinzo Abe] said.
