An initiative spearheadedby Michael Hensel; Christian Hermansen Cordua and Solveig Sandness at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design (AHO); the Scarcity and Creativity Studio (SCL) has been set up with the explicit intention of enabling students ‘to learn from integrated design, research and hands-on building activities’. Here Guest-Editors Michael Hensel and Christian Hermansen Cordua describe the ambitions and scope of the programme, and the projects that the studio has undertaken at extreme southern and northern latitudes, whether in Chile or in Northern Norway, highlighting the importanceof climatic and environmental factors in a local setting.
