Der Aufsatz widmet sich einem der unbekanntesten Dramen von J.M.R. Lenz und findet den Grund für die ausgebliebene Rezeption in der spezifischen literarischen Behandlung von Patronage und Freundschaft. Um die Asymmetrie zwischen Patron und Klient semantisch zu überbrücken, nimmt Lenz in diesem Schauspiel eine Reihe szenischer Verschiebungen vor, die der Aufsatz in einer dichten Lektüre rekonstruiert.
In this essay I discuss one of J.M.R. Lenz's least known dramas; I argue that the source of the missing reception is its specific literary treatment of patronage and friendship. In order to semantically bridge the asymmetry between patron and client at work in the play, Lenz undertakes a series of scenic deferrals, which the essay reconstructs in a close reading
