    After the aryan invasions of the Indian subcontinent, around 1300 BC, the hymns of the Rig Veda start being composed. Four or five centuries later, three other sacred books would be composed: the Sama, Yajur and Atharva Vedas. On the one hand, the vedic hymns bring out the mystical experience of the sages of Ancient India; on the other hand, they establish the rites for sacrifice.Through the process of elaboration of these hymns, the educational relationship between master and pupil takes form, and this will remain the basis for Indian education through history. From 700 BC onwards, the chain of masters and pupils produces a new series of spiritual texts: the Upanishads. The prephilosophical spirit of the Rig Veda gives way to proper philosophy in the Upanishads. At the same time, Indian education has consolidated as a personal relationship between master and pupil.

    Després de les invasions àries del subcontinent indi, cap al 1300 aC, es comencen a compondre els himnes del Rig Veda. Quatre o cinc segles més tard, es compondrien uns altres tres llibres sagrats: el Sama, Yajur i Atharva Vedas. Els himnes vèdics recullen, per un costat, l'experiència mística dels savis de l'Índia antiga; per un altre costat, entronitzen el ritual sacrificial. Durant el procés d'elaboració d'aquests himnes, va prenent forma la relació pedagògica entre mestre i deixeble, que constituirà el cor de l'educació índia al llarg de la història. A partir del 700 aC, la cadena de mestres i deixebles produeix una nova sèrie de textos espirituals: els Upanishads. L'època prefilosòfica del Rig Veda ha deixat pas a la filosofia pròpiament dita en els Upanishads. Alhora, l'educació índia s'ha consolidat com una relació personalitzada entre mestre i deixeble
