  • Resumen
    • "Kerneos is definitely working on the expansion of its geographical presence so as to ensure long term support to customers locally. Following a very successful development in China over the past couple of years, Kerneos is now making in-roads to India with industrial ambition," Jean-Christophe Trassard, refractory market director, told IM.

Almatis, another of the world's leading speciality alumina producers, already has a presence in the US, Germany, Holland, India, China, Japan and in Brazil. However, the company said that it is seeing a shift in China, India, Russia and Brazil, where "[Almatis] sees good potential due to a further technology shift in refractory technology for steel production." "The ongoing development in steel technology which requires higher purity and higher wear resistance will further drive the demand for our products in high alumina refractories. An example of this can be seen in the replacement of natural high alumina aggregates such as bauxite and andalusite by tabular alumina in steel ladle linings," Almatis said.
