Outotec sees orders fall 27% as mining investment stays low

    • In 2013, [Outotec]'s R&D expenses totalled EUR 48.7m, an increase of 17% from the previous year and representing 2.6% of sales, the company said. Outotec filed 101 priority applications, and 419 new national patents were granted, compared to 286 the previous year.

      At the end of 2013, Outotec had 702 patent families, including a total of 6,147 national patents or patent applications. According to the Finnish Patent and Registration Office, of the domestic companies Outotec had the highest number (76) of patent applications in Finland in 2013.

      For FY 2013, order intake decreased 25% to DKK 20.9bn ($3.84bn) while order backlog decreased 24% to DKK 22.3bn ($4.09bn) Revenue increased 2% to DKK 26.9bn ($4.94bn) from DKK 26.3bn ($4.83bn) in 2012, while EBITA decreased 62% to DKK 977m ($179m).
