    Este artículo aborda por primera vez la escritura en ngäbere. Se analizan los autores y trabajos realizados hasta nuestros días. También se estudia desde cuándo se están haciendo estas investigaciones y los sectores interesados en este trabajo. El texto intenta aproximar respuestas al porqué se habla de ngábe-bugle, qué piensan los latinos de los ngäbe, desde cuándo se inicia la escritura del ngäbere, el aporte del Instituto Lingüístico de Verano, el rol del Ministerio de Educación, la evolución del alfabeto ngábe y quiénes más están contribuyendo a la escritura del ngäbere.

    This article engages, for the first time, the matter of ngäbere writing, examining authors currently active and work published to date. Also scrutinized are when investigations first began, and the constituencies interested in such inquiries. Answers are sought to (1) why one refers to the ngábe-bugle language; (2) what latinos think of the ngäbe people; (3) how long has ngäbere writing been around; (4) the part played by the Summer Institute of Linguistics; (5) the role of the Ministry of Education; (6) the development of the la ngábe alphabet; and (7) who else is making a contribution to ngäbere writing.
