  • This paper describes the make up of the Global Observing System (GOS), which is the component of the WMO's World Weather Watch dedicated to observation. It reviews the purpose of the GOS, its main applications and the various instrumental techniques that it uses. The paper ends with a glance at the evolution of the GOS.
