    La investigación arqueológica en Gran Junction Street, y West Bowling Green Street, Leith, ha identificado varios elementos relacionados con el asedio de Leith en 1560. Dicha evidencia física nos ha permitido transcribir un mapa del asedio que fue dibujado en el momento de la rendición francesa en 1560 y transcribirlo sobre un mapa moderno de la ciudad. Esta transcripción y la evidencia de excavación muestran que las defensas del fuerte habían sido re-excavadas en dos ocasiones. Esta nueva evidencia nos ha permitido sugerir una serie de fases para el desarrollo del fuerte.

    Archaeological investigations at Great Junction Street, Leith, and West Bowling Green Street, Leith, revealed features that relate to the siege of Leith in 1560. Using the physical evidence from these excavations, it was possible to transcribe a map of the siege drawn at the time of the French surrender in 1560 onto a modern map of the town. This transcription and the excavation evidence, showing that the fort defences had been re-excavated on two occasions, have allowed discussions of the phasing of the fort to be put forward.
