The article reports on the developing gallery culture of New York City's Lower East Side. It is reported that the number of art galleries in the Lower East Side doubled in 2007 and that the opening of the New Museum of Contemporary Art in the area has bolstered interest the area. Several fledgling Lower East Side galleries are profiled including Sunday, Amy Smith-Stewart, and Never Work. Several art dealers who have relocated to the area explain their reasons for doing so including Janos Gat.
