  • This article reports on successful effort to create a genetic feedback loop in yeast. This is the first circuit of its type to be built in a eukaryotic cell. The loop consisted of two novel genes. When exposed to galactose, the yeast cell activated the first implanted gene. The second gene produced transcription factor that would enhance the activity of the first gene. When the first gene was removed, the second gene kept producing transcription factor.
