  • This article reports on a study by Matthew Walker of the University of California at Berkeley on psychiatric disorders that may be the result of too little sleep. The study showed that the amygdala in trial patients had 60 percent more activity following 35 hours without sleep. This burst of activity leads to run away emotions.
