The article reports on the results of a study published in the February 5, 2008 "Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences," which found a correlation between dilation in the pupil of the eye and a shift in perception of ambiguous images. The extent of the momentary dilation, which could be as much as one millimeter, also correlated with how long that particular perception lasted.
