  • Resumen
    • The article discusses a study published in the March 14, 2008 issue of "Science" on cloning in sand dollars. Sand dollar larvae asexually reproduce themselves through cloning when they sense mucus from a nearby predator. The cloned larvae is smaller than the original, enabling it to avoid detection by the carnivore fish. This is the first noted instance of an animal cloning itself to defend against predators rather than simply for population growth.
