Resumen de Skin Job on Parkinson's.

Nikhil Swaminathan

  • The article discusses research on Parkinson's disease published online in April 2008 by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA. Rats were injected with a toxin that destroyed their dopamine-making neurons in order to produce motor symptoms reminiscent of Parkinson's. Skin cells were then taken from an adult mouse, reprogrammed to act like embryonic stem cells, and used to successfully treat the neurodegenerative damage in the rats.
