  Los procesos de control son centrales para la flexibilidad que caracteriza al comportamiento humano, y por ello, conocer sus bases neurales es una cuestión central en la neurociencia cognitiva. Esta revisión integra los hallazgos principales obtenidos en el campo, enfatizando el papel de una red fronto-parietal, cuyas regiones desempeñan cómputos tanto de carácter proactivo (representando anticipatoriamente aspectos de la tarea que preparan al sistema para la acción) como reactivos (detectando y resolviendo conflictos en el procesamiento). De igual forma, se exponen las dinámicas de interacción entre estas áreas y otras regiones cerebrales que tienen lugar principalmente en el rango de frecuencias lentas. Por último, se señalan preguntas centrales en el ámbito que aún no han obtenido respuesta en la investigación.

  Understanding the neural basis of cognitive control is a central issue in cognitive neuroscience, given its core importance for the flexibility that characterizes human behaviour. This review integrates the main findings in the field, underscoring the role of fronto-parietal regions in both proactive (representing tasks in anticipation to prepare the system for action) and reactive (detecting and resolving conflicts in processing) control. In addition, we review the dynamics of interaction between these areas and other brain regions in the range of slow frequencies. Finally, we highlight central questions in the field that have yet to be answered.
