  • Science news briefs are presented. A team at Hewlett-Packard has created a new circuit element called a "memristor," or memory resistor. Researchers at Ohio State University found students learned mathematical concepts better using abstract symbols than practical problems. A study found that although global warming may affect equatorial regions less than temperate and polar ones, tropical insects may suffer more, because they have less tolerance for temperature change.
