This article discusses research into the effectiveness of using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) brain scans. Two companies that use fMRI scans to detect lies, Cephos and No Lie MRI, are described. Problems in fMRI lie detection relating to the distinction between artificial lie detection and lying in matters such as criminal investigations are discussed.
