The article describes the efforts of the company Tackle Design to improve upon existing prostheses for amputees. Focusing on one of the founders of Tackle Designs who subsequently lost an arm in the Iraq War, the author discusses how Jonathan Kuniholm was unimpressed by the prosthetic arms he was offered. Also discussed is Kuniholm's improvement upon the Trautman hook, a prosthesis that was designed in the 1920's.
