  • The article focuses on advances in brain-machine interface technology. It claims that ideas from science fiction involving connecting one's brain directly to a computer are closer to being realized, but that more advances in understanding the brain are needed to make it fully realized. However, technology exists that allows disabled people to manipulate computers or move prosthetic arms using brain signals, and it is possible to input text into the area of the brain used to form new memory.
