The article reports that the Caribbean spiny lobster avoids fellow lobsters that are infected with the PaV1 virus. A study showed that healthy lobsters would stay away from their sick fellows, even before they became contagious. Sick lobsters would socialize indiscriminately. The study is the first to show wild social animals avoiding diseased individuals.
