  • This article focuses on ways to control the emission of carbon dioxide from fossil fuels like coal, oil, and natural gas. The article claims that humanity can emit only so much carbon dioxide into the atmosphere before the climate enters a geologic state unknown to history. Climate scientists see the risks growing rapidly as CO2 levels are near to double what they were before the 18th century. The required reduction in emissions can be broken down into "wedges," an incremental reduction of a size that matches available technology.
