Dialnet

Resumen de The next generation.

Graham P. Collins

  • This article looks at the next generation of commercial high-temperature superconductor technology, using wires composed of yttrium, barium, copper and oxygen (YBCO), which is set to dominate the marketplace. There are two downsides to this technology, including the cost of the silver used in making the wires and manufacturer's lack of control over the detailed structure of the wire cores, to optimize the superconductor's performance. INSET: A SUPERCONDUCTING SANDWICH.
