  This research has as general objective to evaluate the financial viability of opening a Fisk franchising language school in Tenente Portela city – RS. Regarding the methodology, this study is characterized as theoretical empiric because it is based on bibliographic materials and data collected by the researcher and the approach of the problem is classified such as qualitative. The goals have exploratory and procedures are characterized as a case study. The population are all the inhabitants of the city of Tenente Portela, RS, and the sample is defined by a statistical formula. A questionnaire was developed with the intention of checking the population's interest in doing a language course. The data collected show that opening a new franchising school is viable, being proved by the management report, where it was elaborated a cash flow considering a period of five years, where the period of investment return was estimated in three years and three months, using the payback method and also the VPL and TIR method.

  O objetivo geral deste é analisar a viabilidade financeira para abertura de uma escola de idiomas da franquia FISK no município de Tenente Portela, RS. A metodologia utilizada tem caráter exploratório, com abordagem qualitativa e procedimentos da pesquisa que trataram do estudo de caso. A população são todos os habitantes do município de Tenente Portela, RS, sendo a amostra um total de 400 pessoas entrevistadas. Elaborou-se um questionário com a intenção de verificar o interesse da população em fazer um curso de idiomas. Os resultados demonstram que a abertura da nova escola franqueada é viável, sendo comprovada pelo relatório gerencial, pois foi elaborado um fluxo de caixa considerando um período de cinco anos, onde o tempo de retorno do investimento foi estimado em três anos e três meses, utilizando o método do payback e também o VPL e TIR.
