    The treatment of the associated bacteraemia is only a small part of the management of leptospirosis infection. The management of acute secondary renal failure, which often occurs in affected dogs, requires rapid diagnosis ant therapy in order to maximise the chances of recovery of renal function.

    Other consequences of the disease (hepatic, pulmonary or other) and the risk of the animal becoming a renal carrier must also be taken into account.

    Lors de leptospirose, le traitement de la bactériémie ne constitue qu'une petite partie de la prise en charge. La gestion de l'insufisance rénale aiguë secondaire souvent observée chez le chien requiert une démarche diagnostique et thérapeutique rapide et rigoureuse, afin de maximiser les chance de récupération de la fonction rénale. Les autres conséquences de la maladie (hépatique, pulmonaire ou autre) et le risque de portage rénal doivent également être pris en compte.
