La historiografía educativa costarricense: un balance preliminar

    El objetivo principal de este artículo es identificar los aportes y las limitaciones de la producción historiográfica que ha estudiado la educación en Costa Rica desde la época colonial hasta el presente. El análisis realizado muestra que las investigaciones llevadas a cabo desde inicios del siglo XX pasaron de enfoques descriptivos y tradicionales a perspectivas más sofisticadas a partir del decenio de 1980. En el curso de este proceso, los intereses de los historiadores, antes concentrados en los aspectos institucionales del sistema educativo, tendieron a diversificarse, al incluir temas de carácter social y cultural.

    The main objective of this article is to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the Costa Rican education historiography since the colonial period to the present. The analysis shows that research carried out since the early twentieth century went from descriptive and traditional approaches to more sophisticated perspectives by the 1980’s. During this process, the interests of historians diversified when it shifted from aspects focusing on the institutional education system to include issues of social and cultural nature.

    O principal objetivo deste artigo é identificar as contribuições e limitações do historiográfica que estudou educação na Costa Rica desde os tempos coloniais até o presente. A análise mostra que as investigações realizadas desde o início do século XX passou de abordagens descritiva e tradicionais para perspectivas mais sofisticadas dos anos 1980 Durante este processo, os interesses dos historiadores, anteriormente centrada na os aspectos institucionais do sistema de ensino tendem a se diversificar, para incluir questões de natureza social e cultural.
