  • From Brancusi's Nail Clipper to Daniel Spoerri's Musée Sentimental, the Memoir of the Derisory.

This article deals with the Musée Sentimental and the Boutique Aberrante that Daniel Spoerri created in 1977 in the Crocodrome of Zig and Puce, the monumental installation realized by Jean Tinguely, Niki de Saint Phalle and Bernard Luginbühl at the invitation of Pontus Hulten for the inauguration of the Centre Pompidou -- Musée National d'Art Moderne. Daniel Spoerri placed Brancusi's nail clipper at the origin of his project for the Musée Sentimental. This object, recuperated in the atelier of die sculptor, Impasse Ronsin, is here taken as a clue permitting to resituate this project in die ensemble of Spoerri's work, and to take into account the intimate meaning that he placed in the foundation of this work. The common and personal meanings were superimposed in this creation, and invite the analysis of one and the other in the question of the sentimental in the work of the artist.
