Revistas científicas de Paraguay: descripción del estado actual

    Este trabajo tiene por objetivo identificar revistas de Paraguay de carácter científico y describir sus principales características. Es un estudio de carácter exploratorio, para la identificación de las revistas se tuvo en cuenta solamente aquellas revistas declaradas por la editorial como revistas científicas, que estén vigente en el periodo de estudio, mayo a noviembre del 2016. Se consideró como vigente aquellas revistas que publicó su número al menos hasta el año 2011. Inicialmente fueron identificadas en total 98 revistas con filiación paraguaya, al verificarificar su estado (vigencia y carácter científico) la lista quedó a un total de 60 revistas. Se encontró que las revistas con filiación paraguaya, se edita principalmente por instituciones de educación superior, con periodicidad semestral, la mayor cantidad de publicación se observa en el área de Ciencias Médicas y de Ciencias Sociales. En su mayoría ofrece libre acceso a sus contenidos y además del impreso publican también en línea. La presencia en servicios de indexación es mínima y casi el 50% de las revistas mantienen su periodicidad regular en la publicación de sus números.

    This paper aims to identify scientific journals from Paraguay and describe their main characteristics. It is an exploratory study. For the identification of the journals, it was taken into account those journals declared by the publisher as scientific journals, which are in force during the study period, from May to November 2016. It was considered as valid those journals that published their number at least until the year 2011. Initially, a total of 98 journals with Paraguayan affiliation were identified. Upon verification of their status (validity and scientific nature), the list remained at a total of 60 journals. It was found that the journals with Paraguayan affiliation, are published mainly by institutions of higher education, with a semiannual periodicity, of the area of Medical Sciences and Social Sciences. Most of them offer free access to their content (85%) and also print online. 50% have a presence in indexing services and about 50% of journals maintain their regular periodicity in the publication of their numbers.
