Resumen de Li3 Energy Inc.

Emma Hughes

  • Li3's Maricunga lithium project covers approximately 1,888 ha (km2) in the northeast section of the Salar de Maricunga in Chile, second only in size to the Salar de Atacama, the largest salt flat in the country. The company's deposit consists of a 60% controlling interest in SLM Litio, which covers 1,438 ha (14.38km2) and the Cocina mining concessions, which cover a further 450 ha (4.5km2). The Cocina concessions do not need a special permit to exploit lithium because they were granted one before lithium was declared strategic back in the 70's.

Highlighting some of the difficulties Li3 and others working to come online in Chile have faced in recent years, [Luis Santillana] looked back to February 2012, when Chile's government went on the record with its intention to award a 20-year 100,000-tonne lithium contract (equivalent to 530,000 tonnes lithium carbonate) to the winner of an auction.

Li3's Maricunga lithium project covers approximately 1,888 ha (km[superscript]2 ) in the northeast section of the Salar de Maricunga in Chile, second only in size to the Salar de Atacama, the largest salt flat in the country.
