  • Though Sierra Rutile saw its zircon concentrate production fall by 37% over H1 2014, Kenmare noted that zircon market conditions were stable in the second quarter of 2014 compared with Q1, albeit with some modest downward pricing pressure.

    Located 70km south-east of Perth, MZI's Keysbrook project is set to become a significant producer of leucoxene, a source of TiO[subscript]2 and zircon, with estimated output tonnages of 70,000 tpa and 10,000 tpa respectively. First production is scheduled for mid-2015.

    As the second largest zircon producer, Tronox accounts for around 20% of global supply. The company is also the third largest titanium feedstock producer, accounting for approximately 10% of the world's feedstock production. Its global zircon operations have a combined production capacity of 265,000 tpa zircon.
