  • YPB raised more than Australian dollar (A$)3.7m ($3m*) through a public offer of shares before it was listed on the Australian Securities Exchange in August 2014. YPB chief executive, John Houston, said: "Counterfeiting is an enormous industry valued at A$1.7 trillion, but you don't hear about it that much because people aren't that proud of it, but it is a big issue." The European Union (EU) has set a two-year deadline for phasing out the 20,000 tonnes of lead and cadmium-based stabilisers it uses every year. Meanwhile, the China Plastic Piping Association, representing members of China's PVC industry, has initiated a voluntary phase out of the 450,000 tonnes of lead-based PVC that it uses annually.

The capacity of cerium oxide to store nitrogen oxides (NOx) at low temperatures (< 200 degreesC) allows cars and light duty vehicles to comply with the EU's Euro 6 emission limits of 80 milligrams NOx/km and the US Tier2Bin5 limit of 44 milligrams NOx/km, both of which are regarded as stringent standards.
