"The net result is that the combined entity will now offer a much stronger and more complete product range. The addition of Sharpe accelerates our expansion in the US chemical, industrial, pharmaceutical, and sanitary markets with a more complete product offering," Hayward Gordon's executive vice president, John Hayward, told IM.
"We have experienced lower new project activity in mineral processing in particular but there is an increase in projects focused on optimisation of existing operations. Also, projects that are going ahead are often scaled back in size. However, we are actively engaged in diversifying our markets and the acquisition of Sharpe is part of that strategy," Hayward told IM.
"While North America represents the largest geographic market for both companies, we both have significant international presence," Hayward told IM. "Internationally, Sharpe has been very active in China for many years, particularly in flue gas desulphurisation (FGD) applications within the power generation industry."
