Magnis clinches 180,000 tpa offtakes for Tanzanian graphite

  • "This is a huge announcement for both Magnis and the graphite industry," Magnis' chairman, Frank Poullas, told IM on announcing the SINOMA offtake in December.

    SINOMA's vice president, Dong Yuan, said that it was very important for SINOMA to secure long-term supply of high quality graphite, while Sinosteel's vice president, Qian Li, said the Nachu graphite would be "particularly useful" for high-tech applications in electric vehicles and other battery markets.

    The deals represent the majority of [Nachu]'s anticipated annual output. According to a corporate presentation published by Magnis in November 2014, Nachu is capable of producing 200,000 tpa graphite over a 40-year mine life, based on the project's maiden JORC resource.
